The left choice seems the better choice with air moving freely in front and behind the device whereas on the right crosswind from the right may be hidden by the wheel
Not recommended (air speed is influenced by the wheel, and potentially unsafe)

A forward mount to reduce (not cancel) the stagnation issues and get a more clean air
